Join me as I take you through our time in New York, New York. What to see, what to do, & what to eat. Enjoy!
A special city that holds a big place in my heart. A fun fact about NYC: I was actively planning my move when I met my husband and decided to cancel my plans and stay in Louisiana to be with him. He, being the thoughtful and caring person that he is, has taken me to my favorite stateside place countless times and even fulfilled my lifelong dream of a NYC proposal. For as long as I could remember, I dreamt of getting engaged in Central Park. Being the cutie that he is, he surprised me with a proposal overlooking central park so I wouldn’t expect it. On our recent trip we changed things up. Since we have been lucky enough to explore NYC quite a bit, we stayed in a new part of town that gave us a different NYC experience. This trip was very special to me as a major bucket list of mine was to see NYC in the snow and y’all, it happened! I was thrilled to see the unexpected change in weather and be able to live out NYC’s first snow of the season, my trip was MADE!
Where To Stay:
11 Howard – We decided to stay in SoHo this trip and the 11 Howard was easy to navigate from and luckily near most of my breakfast and coffee spots I had already picked out. Definitely a win win!
Places To Go:
NYC Public Library – This beautiful piece of architecture has me wondering, why can’t all libraries look like this? Stop by for a quick walk through and admire the inside and out.
Metropolitan Museum of Art – My third time visiting the MET and like all visits before there is never enough time. So much history inside one building.
The Oculus – Near the 9/11 memorial and museum lies the Oculus. A new transportation hub filled with shops. We ducked off from the snow to take a look and I will say it is a neat place to visit and get a little shopping in.
Central Park – My favorite place in the city. I could spend all my time exploring Central Park. To see it filled with snow this time around was a dream come true and made me feel so blessed for all that has been given to me.
Natural History Museum – This MUSEUM! I love the Natural History Museum and it always has something new to explore and learn. Just like the MET, you can spend all of your time here and still somehow run out of it. This is a must see.
Places To See:
Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree – My first time seeing the famed Rockefeller Christmas Tree and I thought it would be much bigger. Am I the only one who has built this up in my head to be larger than it is? Let me know! With that being said, the surrounding area of Rockefeller Center was so magical at Christmas time.
The Plaza Hotel – You cant come to NYC and not stop by the Plaza. As a huge Home Alone fan, the Plaza is always magic to my eyes. Seeing it with falling snow had my heart bursting out my chest.
Places To Eat:
Pizza Loves Emily – Pizza, my first true love when it comes to food. A recommendation from a friend that was located in the West Village. Reservations are a must as it is small and busy.
Brooklyn Bagel – We can’t come to NYC without stopping by Brooklyn Bagel. Always a perfect spot to start the day.
Shake Shack – Do I have to say more? I can never pass up a chance to have a burger from Shake Shack.
Optimistic Cafe – This was the sweetest little find while planning our trip. We took a break from the cold with an afternoon latte in this adorable little cafe.
Joe’s Pizza – NYC and Joe’s pizza go hand in hand for me. We always stop by for a slice and a glass bottled Coca Cola.
Marché Maman – My all time favorite NYC cafe. I am IN LOVE with everything from the beautiful branding, to the french design, to the yummy chocolate croissants, and all the great food options. A MUST GO!
Tiny’s – The cutest little spot. Tiny’s is a must for brunch and the name sums it up, grab a reservation.
Emilio Ballatos – A recommendation from my chef #BFF Katie Lee. I can see why she is a frequent diner here. The service and authentic Italian atmosphere had me smiling the entire time.
Once Upon A Tarte – A cute little cafe where we had breakfast, with a great latte, and adorable name that is located in SoHo. Check it out!
Gray’s Papaya – From my FAVORITE movie You’ve Got Mail is how I discovered Gray’s Papaya. This iconic NYC spot serves up hot dogs for a great price. I stop by on every trip to NYC.
Box Kite Coffee – Located in the Upper West Side. We stumbled across this and stopped in for a coffee post lunch on our way to the Natural History Museum. The latte was great!
MEW – This was the place we had dinner the night my husband proposed which makes this Sushi restaurant extra special. If you love sushi, stop by for a yummy dinner in a unique underground location.
Ladurée – We stopped in to the SoHo location for a macaroon after dinner and as always we loved it.
Jack’s Wife Freda – Near our hotel lies this great spot. We went for breakfast on our last morning in NYC and were very satisfied.
Activities To Do:
Broadway Show – We saw Kinky Boots on this trip and really loved it. It was filled with humor that kept you laughing throughout the entire show.
Rockettes Christmas Spectacular – You can’t go to NYC at Christmas and not see the Rockettes. We had a great time sipping wine while watching an iconic show. The show was lovely, however I wish they would have shown more of the Rockettes.
Top of The Rock – We went back to the top of the rock to see the city from above during winter. As always it is just as beautiful from above.
9/11 Memorial & Museum – We visited the new museum this trip and I am sad to report I feel it seems to not be organized very well. We were in lines for hours that moved at a snails pace while standing in the snow. Thankfully we grabbed up two umbrellas before. If you are on the fence about seeing it and the lines are wrapped around, I would suggest adding it to your next trip or going early in the morning.
Things To Get:
Marché Maman Ceramic Coffee Cup
More memories from NYC…
THE END.
