“Your first ritual that you do during the day is the highest leveraged ritual, by far, because it has the effect of setting your mind, and setting the context, for the rest of your day.”
– Eben Pagan
Good Morning,
My morning ritual has become the most beloved part of my day. Although from time to time, whether I could not get to sleep, or did not sleep well, I can assure you when that alarm goes off I sometimes silently cringe. Any time I missed a morning or chose to sleep in, I am filled with regret. But rest assured (pun intended) every single time that I get out of bed bright and early, my day is made that much better because of it.
The quiet of the early morning is by far my favorite. I can get more accomplished early while the world is asleep than I can during the middle of my day.
I am sharing my morning ritual with you today in hopes to inspire you to get up a little earlier, start your day on a positive note, and enjoy this time as much as I do.
So what in the world do I do when my alarm goes off each morning you ask? Today is the day that I am spilling the beans.
How I Start My Day
Start The Day – I set my alarm each morning for 4:00 and 4:20 and get up somewhere in between then and 5:00.
Five Minute Journal – I talked about this recently in my first “Coffee With Claire | No.1 |”. I started this on October 1st, and I have really enjoyed starting and ending my day reminding myself of all that I have to be grateful for. It is so easy to get stuck in a “poor me” rut when life gets stressful and forget all that God has blessed us with.
Workout – After I complete my “Five Minute Journal” I start my workout. This Monday I started a 6 week challenge with Rachel Finch. A “6 week transformation of your mind, body, and soul” she states. A healthy meal plan, a workout routine, mixed with stretching and mediation. I will also intermix my Obè app to get a quick cardio or express workout in when I want a little more in the evenings or weekends.
Lemon Water and Coffee – After my workout, I cool down by feeding the pups and warming my water for my “Lemon & Sea Salt Drink” (juice of 1/2 lemon and a dash of pink Himalayan sea salt). While sipping my water I make a pot of coffee (unless my hubs is up and beats me to it), and let the dogs out. In the mean time I take my probiotics, finish my water, and by this time the coffee is ready. All I do is add in my collagen and milk and sit down for a bit to relax.
To Do’s – After I have a few sips of coffee I like to do little things around the house. Folding a load of clothes, getting a blog post ready, running the dishwasher, bringing the trash out, the list goes on. Accomplishing little things, being able to check these steps, no matter how mundane, helps me set a positive tone for my day.
Breakfast – Breakfast always varies for me. Recently it has been 1 egg and a thin slice of Dave’s Killer Bread with Trader Joe’s Crunchy Almond Butter. Sometimes I will have a Siggi’s Nonfat Vanilla Icelandic Yogurt (110cal., 15g of protein, 0g of fat, 9g of sugar) with Trader Joe’s gluten free granola. And other days I will have a serving of Hemp Hearts with Sliced Strawberries. It all depends on the mood I am in. While I eat I will watch my favorite insta stories and see what is going on around “the gram”.
Get Dressed – Starting at 7:00 I get showered and freshened up. During the week I pop on a little makeup. I have previously shared my “15 minute makeup routine”. I plan to update this soon as I have changed a few products. After my makeup is done I either throw my hair in a pony or a low messy bun and I am ready to go.
Last Minute Details – After I am dressed, I make a coffee with collagen to-go, gather my daily vitamins, and love on those pups one last time before I am out the door at 7:45.
Starting my day with accomplishments has changed my way of life. It has made me feel better, calmed me down, and makes me feel more productive. To me there is no better way to start on a positive note than this. I hope you will give it a try! If you do, please let me know if it makes your day go better, and what has changed for you by making this small change. I love nothing more than to chat with you. Cant wait to hear all about it!
XO
Claire B.
